Tyre Killer
Electromechanical splitting jaws that disable an unauthorised vehicle within a few metres of the access point.

Electromechanical tyre killers
The electromechanical tyre killer is one of the highest security vehicle access control systems, in which a vehicle without permission cannot enter. The tyres of the unpermitted vehicle split open immediately; therefore the vehicle moves only a few more metres and is stopped. The jaws of the tyre killer move all together. The drive unit is placed at one end of the tyre killer, stands above ground level and is a complete assembly with the body. In this way both smooth transmission of motion and minimum effect of external factors are achieved.
Control electronics
Tyre killers are controlled by a PLC. The open and close function can be achieved by every kind of card reader, biometric readers such as fingerprint or hand shape, radio control, on/off switch or key switch. Besides this, safety accessories such as loop detectors, photocells, flashing lights or red/green lights can be integrated into the control electronics very easily. Time delay arming of the tyre killer can be adjusted between 0 and 50 seconds.
Body, jaws and drive unit
The splitting jaws utilised in the tyre killer are manufactured from 12 mm steel. The steel construction separating the jaws in the body is a 100 mm U beam. When closed, the tyre killer is designed to withstand 25 tons of axle load. As it will generally be installed outdoors, all the elements of the body, jaws and drive unit are galvanized. The driving axle on which the jaws are welded is supported by four single row radial contact ball bearings, therefore both smooth operation and durability against high axle loads is achieved. In case of power failure, it is possible to disarm the tyre killer manually. The cabinet of the drive unit is manufactured from A1 quality steel, galvanized, electrostatically powder coated to RAL 2004 and furnaced.
